The bluffs along the Republican River are not high, but do present some pleasing scenes along Route 6.  This photo was taken east of Cambridge in June 2010.
Throughout the Great Plains many towns have lost their former status as important retail service centers.  In most counties, the largest town--typically the county seat--has captured most retail activities that serve the general public. This is a June 2010 photo of the main street of Holbrook.

 

Nebraska held on to its one-room schoolhouses perhaps longer than any other state.  As recently as 1995, some 200 of them remained open in the state. Edison is the current home to this very small version.  (June 2010 photos)
