Summit County, Colorado

Welcome to the highest point on Route 6, the Continental Divide. Most traffic bypasses the numerous switchbacks on 6 that lead to this spot by taking the Eisenhower/Johnson tunnels below. However, trucks carrying hazardous cargos are required to follow Route 6 over Loveland Pass. (July 1998 photo)

It is worth the effort and time to skip the tunnels and climb over Loveland Pass on Route 6. (1950s postcard).
